my deptment will chose buy the dbms
the oracle is best but the oracle price is too high
our manager have a idea to buy the sqlserver


but how to give a advice report the manager to chose
which dbms

more important how to reduce the cost after buy the oracle


who can give me some articles

It all depends on what you want to do ...

Lets say you just need a database for you php website ... I think in that case a MySQL db would be better then an Oracle database.


Some application don't support Oracle. Or if you're running Linux servers then you can't run MS SQL. Like everything in Oracle , it depends Smile

Because it is called a theft (or stealing or ... choose one of your choice).

@Lazycat: you provided far too few information. MS SQL Server will run only on MS Windows operating system. Oracle will run almost everywhere. MS SQL Server is easier to maintain, Oracle is better when we are talking about large numbers (in all ways). Etc. etc.

Choosing a database isn't that easy - asking a question on a forum and expecting a straight answer. I'm afraid you'll have to put some extra effort in it.

It's not automatically theft - he might be talking about Oracle Express - the free 10g lite version.
