Hi,
I am new to cluster.

I have one Sun Fire 880 server with 8gb of RAM and 4*70 GB of HDD.
I have Solaris 10 5/10 O/S.
I don't have the direct access to console. So I have to do silent
installation only through putty/telnet. Though I have the root login access.

I have to install Oracle Clusterware and then Oracle RAC Database - 10.2.

As RAC / Cluster is installed with 2 nodes, can it be possible
to install with 1 node only ?
If yes, can anyone help me out the steps to follow for installing
Clusterware and then RAC database.

How is RAC database different from normal database ?

Thanks in advance

Arun Tayal

What is the whole idea then?
A RAC is by definition , several instances mounted on several nodes. If one node fails, other nodes will support the operation.
