Hi,

i am going to upgrade 9i R1 DB to 10G R2 DB.
Is it good to use the Database Upgrade Assistant (DBUA).

If DBUA is not good can any can give me the steps to upgrade.
I'm in a difficult situation.

please help.

You have an authentic resource for all the details- refer to oracle's upgrade guide:

http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/toc.htm

Also once you have gone through it, try that upgrade process in a test database and check if things go fine and then go for the actual upgrade.-It can help you avoid surprises by trying out on test database first.

also i read a few places that for some application, performance may actuallly reduce after the upgrade..so benchmark the performance -how it is in existing 9i and compare with that after upgrade.

Why would DBUA be not a good product?
It is the Oracle's native tool.
In some cases, you can even just export and import. But, using DBUA is the proper path.
The best resource is ofcourse the documentation as pointed earlier.
