dear all
i'd like to ask
if i forgot sys and system password could i get it again or login to database anyway

there was file
orapwd file=$HOME/ADMIN/PFILE/orapw$ORACLE_SID
but in oracle 10g i didn't found it is it changed

if any one know where to find this file or how to slove this problem plz replay

Generally the default file location is

$ORACLE_HOME/database on windows and $ORACLE_HOME/dbs on UNIX .

Delete the old file from that location and create a new one with the sys password and then you can log in as sys.


Alternatively, you can try to login from the command prompt like the following :

 $sqlplus "/ as sysdba"

i found file named "PWDorcl.ora"

i can't read what in it .
"   ]\[Z " that's what wrot in it , i replaced it with "AA" but it dosn't work

ok it works now , many thanks but

if i logining on oracle 7 database , this file will be at the same place?
