hi sirs,

is it posibel to transfer databse from windows 2000 to unix server . I know that is posible to export from old and import to the new one
but I want know if its posible by anather way step by step if you please.

No other way. In 10g you may use a transportable tablespace.
If this is one time datbase move, export /import is the only option.
If you are worried about the downtime involved, use materialized views. This is painful. but downtime is very minimal.

hi,

The best way to transfer database form windows 2000 to unix is by Export imoport utility. It is easy and by this u can migrate database very fast campare to other method.

What is the other method here?
when different platforms are involved, the only method is export/import (which involves considerable downtime).

Export / import is not always the fastest / Reliable method.
It depends on the volume of database.

more painful.

move tables to a flat file and use sql loader?

Same as above.
Use export and import.
In case of 10g and if the volume is very large, you may use transportable tablespaces.

Is it possible to switch Oracle 10G database from Microsoft Windows 2003 to HP Unix without having failure of instance.

For fraction of seconds tnsping timed out could work --
So that we could not have much downtime.

Is there any SQL Script which could switch Oracle 10G database from Microsoft 2003* Windows to HP Unix

Please read/research about it first.
SQL methods are time consuming( to setup ) and not easily feasible in your case( you need to have a parallel instance). You can make use of Materialized views. But still, it will minimize the downtime (depends on your volume) and cannot just magically do the job for you.
