facts: HPUX, 30Gb databases at 7 sites, mostly VB client access (250 clients for each database), fairly active client access, customer concerned about need for upgrades, been on 8.1.6 since October 2001.
Usually, I review the business needs and the offering of the database release to determine whether there is enough reason to go through all the testing and effort to install a new release.
I have been asked what the frequency of upgrades for similar sites might be, as well as the considerations for doing these upgrades (eg, never take the first release of a new version, or such "rules").
